Woman Gang-Raped in Haripur Refugee Camp

In Haripur, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped in Afghan refugee camp No. 16, police confirmed on Saturday. According to the First Information Report, the woman was on her way to work when five men forced her into nearby fields, assaulted her for two hours, and took cash and jewelry from her.

The victim identified the suspects as Bacha, Nadi, Rozi Khan, Javed, and Naseer. She also stated that the men beat her when she tried to resist.

Police have registered a case under Section 375A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries punishment of death or life imprisonment for gang rape. All five accused have been booked, and an investigation is underway.

The incident has triggered anger in the local community, and the victim’s family has called for strict punishment for those responsible.
