Markhor is funded by advertising, sponsorship, and reader support. This page sets out exactly what that means, so you always know what you are reading.

Display advertising

We show automated display advertising through Google AdSense. These ads are selected automatically. We do not choose individual advertisers, and no advertiser sees our articles before publication or has any influence over them.

Sponsored content

We occasionally publish content paid for by a sponsor. When we do:

• It is labelled Sponsored at the top of the article and in every listing where it appears.
• It is visually distinct from our editorial work.
• It is excluded from our editorial sections, our newsletter, and our RSS feed.
• It is never written by the reporter who covers that beat.
• Sponsors may not approve, review, or amend our editorial coverage as part of any deal.

We do not publish unlabelled press releases as news.

What we will not do

We do not sell links in editorial articles. We do not accept payment to remove or amend published reporting. We do not accept paid guest posts.
