Editorial Standards

Markhor is independent. We fund the publication through advertising and reader support, and neither influences what we cover or what we conclude.

Sourcing

We report from primary sources wherever possible: central bank and government data, regulatory filings, court documents, and people with direct knowledge of what we are describing. Where we rely on another publication's reporting, we say so and link to it.

We list our sources at the foot of each article. Where a source cannot be named — usually because naming them would put a job or a visa at risk — we explain why, and a second person or document supports the claim wherever we can manage it.

Accuracy and corrections

We check figures against their original source before publishing, not against secondary coverage of it.

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Substantive corrections appear as a dated note at the foot of the article explaining what changed. We do not quietly edit a published piece to remove an error. Minor typographical fixes are made without a note.

To report an error, email editorial@themarkhortimes.com with the article link and the specific problem. We aim to respond within two working days.

Reporting, analysis, and opinion

We keep these separate and label them. Reporting sets out what we established. Analysis draws conclusions from it and says so explicitly. Opinion is the author's argument and is marked as such. Nothing in one category is disguised as another.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Our writers do not accept payment, gifts, travel, or hospitality from organisations they cover. Where a writer has a personal or financial connection to a subject, we disclose it in the article or assign the story elsewhere.

Sponsored content is commissioned and paid for by advertisers. It is labelled as sponsored, kept visually distinct, excluded from our editorial sections, and never written by the writer covering that beat. See our advertising disclosure.

Use of AI

We use AI tools for research, transcription, and drafting assistance. Every article is written, verified, and signed by a named human author who is responsible for its accuracy. We do not publish AI-generated text that has not been checked and edited by that author, and we do not publish AI-generated images presented as photographs of real events.

Ownership and funding

Markhor is owned by MARKHOR TIMES ADVERTISING (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED and receives no funding from any political party, government body, or state institution.
