In a recent development, the formation commanders of the Pakistan Army have emphasized the importance of enforcing the law against those responsible for the May 9 attacks. The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), released a statement following the 81st Formation Commanders Conference, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The commanders expressed their firm resolve to bring the planners and masterminds behind the rebellion against the state and state institutions to justice. While legal trials of the perpetrators and instigators have already begun, the commanders stressed the need to tighten the “noose of law” around those who orchestrated the politically driven chaos, aiming to disrupt the country’s peace.
Efforts to create obstacles and hide behind alleged human rights violations were denounced by the army, labeling such tactics as futile. The commanders emphasized that no amount of distortion or attempts to use human rights violations as a smokescreen would deter the pursuit of justice. They called for the conclusive defeat of inimical forces’ ill designs and vowed to deal with any obstructions firmly.
During the conference, the commanders paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, including armed forces personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilians. They reaffirmed the state and armed forces’ commitment to honoring and respecting the martyrs and their families. Fateha, a prayer for the departed, was also offered.
The prevalent security challenges, both internal and external, were discussed in detail, along with the operational preparedness of the army to counter traditional and non-traditional threats. The commanders were briefed on the implementation of structural changes and the integration of niche technologies to enhance operational readiness and upgrade essential logistic infrastructure in response to emerging security imperatives.
COAS General Munir reiterated Pakistan Army’s dedication to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He emphasized that the bond between the people and the armed forces remains crucial to their shared endeavors, highlighting the events of May 25 as a testament to this relationship.
Addressing unfounded allegations against law enforcement agencies and security forces, the forum stated that these claims aimed to mislead the public and malign the armed forces for trivial vested political interests. General Munir expressed confidence in defeating hostile forces and their abettors, who propagate fake news and propaganda to create societal division and confusion, with the unwavering support of the nation.
The commanders were urged to maintain high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and excel in training their formations. General Munir commended the commanders for their unwavering focus on the well-being and morale of their soldiers, emphasizing that they are the foundation of the army’s operational readiness.
The Formation Commanders Conference concluded with a reaffirmation of their determination to make any necessary sacrifices for the security and stability of the country, with the unwavering support of the proud people of Pakistan.
This statement highlights the Pakistan Army’s commitment to justice, national security, and the well-being of its personnel.
