Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, sons of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, have arrived in Lahore after the suspension of their arrest warrants by an accountability court. The court’s decision to suspend the warrants in the Al-Azizia, Flagship, and Avenfield cases was announced by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, with the warrants being suspended until March 14.

Upon their arrival, Nawaz welcomed his sons at the Jati Umrah residence in Lahore. The warrants for the brothers were issued seven years ago when they were declared absconders by the court. Their lawyer, Qazi Misbah, filed a plea for the suspension of the warrants as both brothers planned to return to Pakistan on March 12.

During the hearing of the Toshakhana reference against Nawaz, Asif Ali Zardari, and Yusuf Raza Gilani, where politicians are accused of violating Toshakhana rules, NAB prosecutors also appeared in court. The NAB prosecutor emphasized that the accused should appear in court as per the law for the warrant of arrest to be suspended.

After arguments from both sides, the accountability court reserved its decision on the petitions. The return of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz to Lahore after seven years has drawn attention due to the legal proceedings surrounding their cases and their status as proclaimed offenders in graft cases.
