Karachi Hospital Treats Rare Case of Quintuple Birth

A woman in Karachi has delivered five babies at once in a private hospital located in Baldia Town, marking a rare multiple birth case in the city.

According to medical officials, the quintuplets were born prematurely and weighed significantly less than average. Due to complications, particularly difficulty in breathing, they were immediately shifted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where oxygen support was administered.

Hospital staff said that the babies’ condition remains critical but stable. Doctors are closely observing all five newborns, and specialized care has been arranged to manage their fragile health. The medical team is reportedly making every effort to stabilize them.

Such multiple births are uncommon and often require complex care. The hospital’s neonatal team has been on alert to respond to any changes in the infants’ condition.

This case follows a similar incident earlier this year in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where another woman gave birth to five children simultaneously at a private maternity and surgical centre.

Dr Waheed Ur Rehman, who oversaw the procedure in Bannu, later shared that the babies included three boys and two girls. He confirmed that both the mother and her children were in good health after the delivery.
