Former Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) provincial minister, Maulvi Ghulam Sarwar Musakhail, has been arrested in Quetta following serious allegations of harassment, intimidation, and threats against Balochistan’s Communications Secretary, Lal Jan Jafar.
Police confirmed the arrest on Thursday after multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged at two separate police stations. According to the complaints, Sarwar stormed into Jafar’s office at the Civil Secretariat during a heated exchange over development projects.
“He entered my office and demanded a private meeting for ‘hisab kitab,’” Jafar stated. “When I refused, he resorted to abusive language and threatened serious consequences for me and my family.”

The situation escalated when alleged supporters of Sarwar reportedly went to Jafar’s residence, harassed his family, and scrawled threatening messages on the walls and doors.
Officials said Sarwar faces multiple charges, including harassment, intimidation, and attempted assault. They also noted that he has a history of misconduct, including past altercations with government officials.
Local political observers link the clash to a long-standing rivalry between Sarwar and Jafar, particularly over the execution of development schemes in their district.
Police say investigations are ongoing, with authorities pledging to ensure accountability.
