Ukraine Drone Strikes Spark Fire at Russian

Ukraine carried out a large drone attack on Russia overnight, with Russian officials saying at least 361 drones were launched. The strikes caused a brief fire at the Kirishi oil refinery in northwest Russia but no injuries were reported.

Russia’s defence ministry confirmed that its air defence systems shot down hundreds of drones, along with four guided aerial bombs and a US-made HIMARS missile. The attacks come as the war in Europe continues to escalate, with Ukraine targeting Russian oil refineries and pipelines, while Russian drones have also been downed in NATO-member Poland.

The incident highlights the growing intensity of the conflict as global powers search for ways to bring an end to the war.

Officials said the Kirishi refinery fire was quickly brought under control, but the attack underlined the vulnerability of key Russian energy sites and raised concerns about further strikes on vital infrastructure in the ongoing war.
