Fresh intelligence collected by the United States indicates that Israel may be actively preparing for a potential military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, international news reported on Tuesday, citing several U.S. officials familiar with classified assessments.

Although no final decision has been confirmed by Israeli leadership, U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly believe the likelihood of an attack has significantly increased in recent months. Concerns are especially high if Washington secures a nuclear agreement with Tehran that fails to completely neutralize Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile.

According to CNN, the intelligence comes from a combination of intercepted communications, visible repositioning of air munitions, and Israeli air force drills, all of which align with long-range strike preparations.

While officials in Washington are divided over the probability of Israeli military action, one U.S. official told CNN, “The likelihood of a strike has increased significantly in recent months.”

The developments come at a time when diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Iran have stalled. A 60-day deadline reportedly set by former U.S. President Donald Trump in a March letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has elapsed without a breakthrough.

On Tuesday, Iranian state media quoted Khamenei rejecting U.S. conditions as “excessive and outrageous,” particularly demands to halt uranium enrichment, casting doubt on the prospects of a new nuclear accord.

Observers suggest Israel may see this diplomatic vacuum — combined with Iran’s weakened military and economic vulnerabilities due to sanctions — as a strategic window of opportunity to act unilaterally.

U.S. officials note that any Israeli strike would likely require American logistical support, including mid-air refueling capabilities and bunker-busting munitions to reach Iran’s fortified underground sites.

While Washington has increased surveillance and intelligence monitoring of Israeli military activity, officials say the U.S. is unlikely to support a strike unless Iran provokes an escalation.

Analysts suggest Israel may be leveraging the threat of military action to shape U.S. diplomatic strategy. One senior Western diplomat said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under domestic and strategic pressure — not only to thwart a weak deal but also to maintain alignment with Trump-era policies, despite emerging rifts.
