The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed a total of 63 illegally operating commercial buildings and premises defaulting on commercialisation fees during a large-scale crackdown conducted in various parts of the city on Wednesday.

The operation, carried out under the supervision of Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, targeted several high-traffic areas including Shadman, Shah Jamal, Canal Bank Road, Subzazar Housing Scheme, and Wahdat Road.

According to the LDA’s Town Planning Wing, 25 buildings were sealed in Shadman, Shah Jamal, and Canal Bank Road, while 38 properties faced action in Subzazar and Wahdat Road areas.

Prominent premises among those sealed include MCB Bank, Allied Bank, Bank Alfalah, The Candour School, Shifa Medical Centre, Gup Chup Restaurant, Servis outlet, as well as pharmacies, workshops, grocery stores, food outlets, and offices operating in violation of LDA regulations.

LDA officials stated that multiple notices were issued prior to the enforcement action, warning owners to regularize their properties or face consequences. The operations were conducted with police assistance to ensure law and order during enforcement.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations across Lahore to ensure strict compliance with commercialisation policies and zoning laws.

“No leniency will be shown towards violators,” an LDA spokesperson said. “These efforts are crucial for maintaining urban order and legal land use across the city.”
