Islamabad police have banned the use of private drones in areas surrounding Muharram processions as part of a comprehensive security plan for the 9th of Muharram.
Officials confirmed that all necessary preparations have been finalised to ensure the safety of mourners in the federal capital. A force of around 30,000 personnel, including officers from Islamabad Police, Special Branch, and Traffic Police, will be deployed to provide security during the procession.
The police announced that the entire route of the main procession has been sealed off using barbed wire to control access and prevent any security threats. Authorities have introduced a three-layer security arrangement, which includes rooftop deployment of sniper commandos and route clearance by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Islamabad Police will be stationed at both the front and rear ends of the procession to ensure uninterrupted movement and swift response to any emergency.
Surveillance of the event will be carried out through the Safe City Central Control Room, as well as a newly-established mobile control unit to monitor real-time developments on the ground.
The decision to prohibit private drone flights was taken to prevent any security breaches or unauthorised aerial surveillance during the religious gathering.
