Islamabad police chief Ali Raza Rizvi has assured that mobile and internet services will remain operational during the 9th of Muharram, as the city observes the day with solemnity and heightened security.
Speaking about the arrangements, the Inspector General said that all necessary security measures have been finalised for the main Muharram procession in the capital. A total of 5,800 police officers have been deployed across key locations, supported by three Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and six Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) working on the ground.
The IG added that personnel from the Pakistan Army and Rangers are also present to assist with law and order duties and to respond swiftly in case of emergencies.

In a significant step towards modern policing, authorities have established a mobile control room for the first time to enhance real-time coordination and response. Surveillance systems have also been upgraded, and all procession routes are being monitored round the clock through cameras and on-ground teams.
The 9th of Muharram, a significant day in the Islamic calendar, is being observed across the country with deep respect and religious devotion. Processions and gatherings are taking place under strict security measures to ensure public safety.
