Parliament Focuses on Gul Plaza Tragedy, Demands Safety Reforms

A joint session of Parliament in Islamabad focused strongly on the tragic incident at Gul Plaza, where innocent lives were lost. Lawmakers from all parties set aside political differences to speak about the tragedy and the pain of the affected families.

Members described the incident as a national loss and offered prayers for the victims. The House passed a unanimous resolution to honour those who died and to show solidarity with their families. The resolution called for justice, accountability, and serious action to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Lawmakers clearly stated that the Gul Plaza tragedy was not just an accident, but a failure of safety systems. They said weak fire safety arrangements, poor building checks, and negligence put lives at risk. Many members stressed that human lives must come before business profits.

Parliament demanded strong solutions. These included strict fire safety laws, regular building inspections, and proper emergency systems in all commercial and residential buildings. Lawmakers called for working fire alarms, clear emergency exits, firefighting equipment, and trained staff in buildings.

The House also demanded financial compensation for the victims’ families and proper medical support for the injured. Members said the government must stand with the victims, not just in words, but through real action.

Speakers urged authorities to take firm steps against unsafe buildings and irresponsible managements. They said inspections should not be symbolic but serious and continuous.

The session ended with a clear message, the Gul Plaza tragedy must become a turning point. Parliament wants safer buildings, stronger laws, and real enforcement, so no family has to suffer such a loss again.
