AGP Report 2026: Audit Finds Financial Irregularities in Several Federal Ministries

The AGP Report 2026 has revealed financial irregularities in several federal ministries and government departments in Pakistan. The report was prepared by the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP). It points out missing records, unpaid government money, and violations of financial rules. The report also calls for better accountability and transparency in government offices.

Ministry of Interior Receives Most Audit Objections

According to the AGP Report 2026, the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control received the highest number of audit objections. It had 65 audit observations, more than any other ministry. The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and several other departments also appeared in the report.

Missing Government Money

The audit found that the Ministry of Interior did not recover Rs22 million in renewal fees and penalties for armoured vehicle permits. It also failed to collect Rs27 million from private security companies. Auditors also questioned the increase in driving licence fees in Islamabad. They said the new fees were introduced without approval from the Finance Division.

Questions Over UNICEF Grant

The AGP Report 2026 also raised concerns about a Rs40 million UNICEF grant for a child labour survey. Auditors said officials did not provide complete records showing how the money was received and spent.

The department replied that the Punjab Bureau of Statistics managed the funds under UNICEF rules. However, the audit team said there was not enough evidence to verify the spending.

Other Important Findings

The report also found that stamp papers worth Rs290 million were issued to cancelled vendors. It also highlighted issues related to land records, road challans, and appointments in different government institutions.

Another major observation was the Rs1.2 billion spent by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to repair two helicopters. Auditors questioned the spending because it was done without open competitive bidding. They recommended a full inquiry into the matter.

Conclusion

The AGP Report 2026 highlights several financial and administrative problems in government departments. The auditors have recommended investigations and stronger financial controls. The report aims to improve transparency, protect public money, and make government institutions more accountable.
