Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the potential for increased bilateral trade between Pakistan and Japan, highlighting the government’s focus on economic diplomacy to foster prosperity in the country. Speaking at a function organized by the Pakistani diaspora in Tokyo during his four-day visit to Japan, Bhutto Zardari underscored the diverse sectors in which both nations could benefit from increased cooperation, particularly in agriculture, livestock, and information technology.

Recognizing Japan’s advancements in various fields, the foreign minister highlighted the opportunity for Pakistan to learn from Japan’s expertise in information technology and other areas. He emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s youthful population, comprising 65% of the total, and proposed harnessing their potential through skills-based education and training.

During his visit, Bhutto Zardari engaged with Japanese leaders and entrepreneurs, urging them to explore avenues for enhanced trade and investment in Pakistan. He also called upon overseas Pakistanis to play an active role in facilitating increased economic ties between the two countries.

As part of his official itinerary, Bhutto Zardari held meetings with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japanese business executives in Tokyo. These engagements aimed to promote dialogue and identify areas of collaboration that could drive economic growth and mutual benefits.

The foreign minister’s visit to Japan signals a revival of leadership-level contacts after a significant gap. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s discussions with his Japanese counterpart, Yoshimasa Hayashi, and other key figures, including Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and National Security Adviser Takeo Akiba, demonstrate a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Moreover, Bhutto Zardari is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Asian Development Bank Institute, a prominent think tank in Japan. This platform presents an opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s economic potential and the government’s efforts to attract investments and foster sustainable development.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s visit to Japan focuses on promoting economic diplomacy and bilateral trade between Pakistan and Japan. By leveraging Japan’s advancements in various sectors, particularly information technology, and capitalizing on Pakistan’s youthful population, both countries aim to forge closer ties and explore opportunities for mutual growth.
