Two Labourers Killed in Sudden Lift Collapse in Lahore

Two workers lost their lives in Lahore after a lift suddenly collapsed at an under-construction building in the Liberty area. It happened so quickly that people nearby didn’t even understand what went wrong at first. One moment the men were working, and the next, everything had changed.

The lift was being used at a private plaza project when it fell from a height. Those at the site say there was panic and confusion. Some workers rushed forward, hoping they could help, but the fall was too severe.

When Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot, both men had already passed away. They had suffered serious injuries, especially to the head and chest. There was nothing left to be done except move the bodies with care.

Later, they were identified as Ghulam Hussain and Abdul Ghaffar. For most people, these are just names in the news. But for their families, they were everything. They had left home to work, like any other day, not knowing they wouldn’t return.

Police have started an investigation to understand how this happened. Some workers at the site quietly questioned whether proper safety measures were in place. It’s something people often talk about after such incidents, but rarely before.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice and ordered a full inquiry. She has asked officials to find out who is responsible and take action. She also shared her condolences with the families.

Incidents like this don’t just end at the site. They leave behind silence in homes, unfinished responsibilities, and people waiting for someone who won’t come back. It’s a reminder that for many workers, every day on the job carries a risk.

Now, as the investigation continues, people are hoping that this loss will at least lead to better safety, so that others don’t face the same fate.
