PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi Arrives at Parliament on Bicycle Over Petrol Price Hike

Iqbal Afridi, a member of the National Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rode a bicycle to Parliament on Monday, 11 May 2026. He did this to protest against the increase in petrol prices in Pakistan. His bicycle ride quickly got people talking. Became a hot topic on social media.

The government recently increased petrol prices again making it cost more than Rs416 per litre. This rise in fuel prices is adding pressure on people who are already struggling with inflation and high daily expenses. Many citizens are worried about how they will afford transport and basic goods.

Iqbal Afridi said his bicycle protest was a message against rising inflation and fuel prices. He thinks that common people are facing financial difficulties because of continuous price hikes. He believes the government should help people of making things harder for them.

This is not the time Iqbal Afridi has used a bicycle to protest. In April 2026 he also rode a bicycle to Parliament after another increase in petrol prices. During that protest he carried a placard that criticized the government’s fuel policies.

Videos and pictures of Iqbal Afridi riding his bicycle outside Parliament spread quickly online. Some people praised his protest. Said it was a simple way to highlight public problems. Others debated whether such protests could bring change.

The issue of rising petrol prices is one of the concerns in Pakistan. With fuel prices continuing to rise many people are hoping for economic policies and relief, in the coming months. Iqbal Afridi and his bicycle protest are definitely getting people talking about these issues.
