Pakistan and China Strengthened Their Strategic Partnership on the 99th Anniversary of PLA

The strategic partnership between Pakistan and China continues to grow. Both countries are expanding mutual cooperation in the fields of defense, trade, technology, and economic development. During a recent high-level meeting, leaders from both nations reaffirmed their commitment to working together for regional peace, strong economic ties, and long-term development.

Military Cooperation Remains Strong:

On August 1, 2026, Pakistan celebrated the 99th anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army at the General Headquarters. Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, hosted the event, Where both countries pledged to further deepen military cooperation.

At the same time, Pakistan’s ISPR rejected reports claiming that Pakistan was helping transport Chinese missiles or air defence systems to Iran. The military described such reports as false.

Terrorism Control:

Pakistan and China also renewed their commitment to fighting terrorism. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and Pakistani officials agreed that protecting Chinese nationals working in Pakistan remains a top priority. Both countries said they will continue working together to improve security and strengthen cooperation against terrorism.

Trade and Economic Cooperation Expands:

Economic ties between the two countries are also becoming stronger. Pakistan’s exports to China increased by 50.7% during the first half of 2026, reaching $1.87 billion. This growth reflects the increasing trade opportunities between the two friendly nations.

In another major development, business agreements worth $850 million were signed during a pharmaceutical conference. Meanwhile, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal introduced the Five Political Corridors framework to support the next phase of CPEC 2.0 and encourage further economic cooperation.

New Opportunities for Youth:

China has also agreed to launch digital skills training programs for Pakistani youth. Under the plan, around 300,000 young Pakistanis will receive training every year in advanced technology and digital fields. The program aims to improve employment opportunities and prepare young people for future careers.

Conclusion:

The strategic partnership between Pakistan and China is expanding beyond the scope of defense cooperation. Through robust trade, new investments, youth training programs, and continued collaboration under CPEC 2.0, both nations are striving to strengthen their economic ties. This progress reflects a shared commitment to regional stability.
