Azad Kashmir Protest Crisis Deepens After Deadly Clashes

The Azad Kashmir election protests have drawn attention as thousands of people continue to demonstrate against the region’s election system. The protests are being led by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which says the current system is unfair and needs major reforms before the upcoming elections.

The main issue is the 12 reserved seats in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. These seats are allocated to refugees from Jammu and Kashmir who now live in different parts of Pakistan. Protesters argue that people living outside Azad Kashmir should not have such a strong influence over the region’s political decisions.

As the protests grew larger, clashes broke out in several areas. JAAC claims that security forces opened fire on peaceful demonstrators, causing deaths and injuries. The group has also alleged that many people have been arrested during the crackdown.

Authorities have imposed an internet and communication blackout in parts of the region. The restrictions have made it difficult for residents to communicate and share information. Meanwhile, Amnesty International has called on Pakistani authorities to restore communication services and respect people’s rights.

The Azad Kashmir election protests have become a major political issue ahead of the legislative elections. Protesters continue to demand electoral reforms, while officials monitor the security situation. The coming days are expected to play an important role in shaping the future of the region’s political process.
