Ahead of Eid ul Azha, Punjab authorities have mobilized more than 4,000 police personnel across the province to maintain security at over 230 cattle markets.
This extensive operation aims to ensure public safety, prevent crime, and regulate market activities during the busy festival season.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, security measures cover 230 cattle markets, including 11 key sites in Lahore, where around 1,000 officers have been assigned to oversee law and order.

The Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, confirmed that strict protocols are being enforced for both sellers and buyers.
He highlighted that all cattle markets would be established only at officially approved locations to ensure organized operations.
Dr. Anwar also warned that any unauthorized cattle markets or illegal sales points would face strict legal consequences.
To further enhance security, an active patrolling strategy has been introduced, targeting common criminal activities such as pickpocketing and fraud.

Specialized units, including the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit, will lead a total of 284 patrol teams tasked with maintaining peace around market areas.
