Pakistan achieved a significant milestone as it conducted a successful flight test of the Ababeel missile system on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). This successful test represents a crucial step in enhancing Pakistan’s deterrence capabilities and strengthening strategic stability in the region.

The test aimed to revalidate various aspects of the ballistic missile system, including design, technical parameters, and performance evaluation of different sub-systems. The Ababeel weapon system is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy for operationalizing full-spectrum deterrence within the framework of a credible minimum deterrence.

The launch of the Ababeel missile system was a momentous occasion witnessed by high-ranking officials, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, and members of the Strategic Forces Command. Also in attendance were the dedicated scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organizations, whose contributions played a vital role in the successful test.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, CJCSC, expressed his admiration for the technical expertise and unwavering commitment demonstrated by all those involved in the test. He lauded their efforts in contributing to Pakistan’s national security and enhancing its deterrence capabilities. The President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and the Services Chiefs joined in congratulating all members of the Strategic Forces on this remarkable achievement.

This successful test of the Ababeel missile system follows previous milestones in Pakistan’s military capabilities. In 2021, Pakistan conducted a successful test flight of the Fatah-1 Guided Multi-Launch Rocket System, a locally developed weapon system with a range of 140 kilometers and precise targeting capabilities.

In another significant development, the Pakistan Air Force initiated the production of the advanced JF-17 Thunder Block 3 fighter jets on December 30. These state-of-the-art fighter jets feature improved radar systems and are poised to rival the capabilities of India’s Raphael aircraft.

This latest success in testing the Ababeel missile system underscores Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a credible and robust defense posture, focusing on deterrence as a means of ensuring regional stability. As the nation continues to invest in modernizing its military capabilities, it underscores the importance of maintaining a balance of power in the region.
