Maryam Nawaz Orders Strong Muharram Security Measures Across Punjab

Yesterday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was in Lahore for a security review meeting. She spoke about the district administration and how the administration team worked with security, cleanliness and public services across Punjab on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and now will be during the month of Muharram as well.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to speed up their services for Muharram-ul-Haram. She wants them to perform better than before and ensure that tight security arrangements are in place for the mourners. She said that it is important to provide all possible facilities during this holy month.

Maryam Nawaz said the emergency response system will become active if someone presses the panic button. She said all majalis have been registered and religious leaders have been documented. She asked imams to promote peace during Muharram. She urged them to discourage any activity that could create law and order problems.

The chief minister directed officials to connect private CCTV cameras with the Safe City system in areas where government cameras are not available. She also ordered a system to identify authorised security drones and detect unauthorised drones.

Maryam Nawaz noted that Punjab is facing a heatwave. She directed assistant commissioners and district administrations to stay active in the field.

She ordered the supply of cold drinking water along procession routes. She also directed authorities to sprinkle water on roads to reduce the heat. Clear signboards will also be placed to help people follow procession routes easily.

The chief minister ordered the immediate removal of construction material, debris, and other obstacles from procession routes. She also warned officials about open manholes and uncovered sewerage holes.

Maryam Nawaz said she does not want to see any open manholes on the routes. She directed officials to install safety covers and protective nets where needed.

She also ordered the deployment of field hospitals, mobile clinics, and Rescue 1122 teams along procession routes. In addition, authorities will set up government camps for drinking water, information, and security assistance so people can easily identify official facilities.

CM Maryam clarified that the Punjab government will continue to work for good governance, security and provision of public services. She said that they will continue to strive to improve facilities across Punjab and ensure that citizens are safe and happy.
