King Abdullah II’s Key Visit to Pakistan

Pakistan and Jordan have taken another strong step toward building a closer relationship. Both countries have signed several important  Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the fields of media, culture, and education. These agreements aim to create new opportunities for learning, cooperation, and understanding between the two nations.

King Abdullah last visited Pakistan at the invitation of former president Mamnoon Hussain. During that visit, the two countries signed two important agreements: one focused on cooperation in civil protection and defence, and the other on developing the housing sector. These agreements helped strengthen cooperation in key areas.

This time, Pakistan hopes to take the relationship to an even higher level. The Foreign Office said that the upcoming visit will help expand cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields. It will also support a more strategic and long-term partnership between Islamabad and Amman. Both sides are expected to discuss new opportunities that will benefit their countries and people.

In addition to the diplomatic meetings, military cooperation is also an important part of the relationship. A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) shared that Pakistan’s army chief recently visited Jordan. During the visit, he met King Abdullah and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a special dinner in honor of King Abdullah II and his delegation. Top officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, were also present. The warm gathering showed the friendly and respectful bond between the two countries.
Before the dinner, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed King Abdullah II at the PM House. Their meeting was also attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir and several federal ministers. Both leaders expressed their desire to further strengthen bilateral ties and increase cooperation in trade, investment, health, and defense.

The two sides also agreed to expand their strategic partnership and work more closely at regional and international forums. They discussed the situation in Gaza and emphasized that the displacement of Palestinians is unacceptable. Pakistan and Jordan also decided to stay in close contact regarding peace efforts in Gaza. Issues related to Afghanistan and India were also reviewed during the meeting.
