Government Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices from February 16

The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the next 15 days. The new rates will come into effect from Monday, February 16.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs5 per litre. After the increase, petrol will now cost Rs258.17 per litre.

High-speed diesel has also become more expensive. Its price has been increased by Rs7.32 per litre. The new rate of diesel is Rs275.70 per litre.

The Petroleum Division said the revised prices will remain in place for the next fortnight. These changes are part of the regular review of petroleum prices that takes place every 15 days.

Earlier, on February 1, the government had announced petroleum prices for the first half of the month. At that time, the price of petrol was kept unchanged at Rs253.17 per litre. However, in the latest review, both petrol and diesel prices have been increased.

The rise in fuel prices is likely to affect daily life. An increase in diesel prices can lead to higher transportation costs, which may also raise the prices of essential goods. Petrol prices directly impact private vehicle owners and commuters.

Consumers across the country are expected to feel the impact of the new rates starting Monday. The government will review the prices again after the next 15 days and announce fresh rates based on market conditions.
