Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, intervened on Monday to persuade Aitchison College Principal, Michael Thomson, to retract his resignation and continue leading the esteemed institution. The sudden resignation of Principal Thomson earlier in the day, attributed to alleged interference and biased actions by the Governor House, stirred upheaval at the renowned educational establishment. While the resignation letter did not explicitly outline the reasons for the decision, media speculations quickly linked it to perceived political pressures.

Speculations arose around Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman’s controversial move to exempt tuition fees for the children of Minister Ahad Cheema, sparking concerns that this decision might have influenced Thomson’s departure. In an effort to resolve the crisis, Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar personally engaged with Principal Thomson on behalf of the Federal Government.

Insider sources disclosed that Minister Tarar held discussions with Principal Thomson, urging him to reconsider his resignation and seek a harmonious resolution to the situation. The Minister’s intervention underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the turmoil at Aitchison College and ensuring the continuity of effective leadership at the institution.
