Shaz Khan’s much-anticipated sports drama The Martial Artist is set to light up cinemas across Pakistan on Eidul Fitr, with its international theatrical release scheduled for April 4.

Originally slated for a January 31 premiere in Los Angeles, the film’s launch was postponed due to devastating wildfires that engulfed over 40,000 acres in the city.

Directed and co-written by Shaz Khan alongside Michael Ross Albert, The Martial Artist boasts a stellar cast, including Khan himself, alongside Hollywood’s Faran Tahir and Pakistan’s Sanam Saeed and Babar Peerzada.

The film, shot across the United States, Pakistan, and Central America, marks a significant milestone as the first international English-language movie featuring four Pakistani lead actors. To enhance accessibility for local audiences, the film will also be released in a dubbed Urdu version.

A gripping sports drama, the film follows Ibby “The Prince” Bakran, an MMA fighter whose promising career is derailed by his own vices. As he faces the downfall of his fighting career, a life-changing revelation compels him to return to Pakistan, where he embarks on a journey to reconnect with his estranged grandfather and uncover his true self.

To bring authenticity to his role, Khan trained under MMA champion Rafael Cordeiro in California. Speaking about the film, he expressed his desire to “humanize fighters and the often misunderstood sport of MMA, which is a fusion of science and art.” He further emphasized that fighters possess not just skill and strength but also “immense humility and an insatiable drive to grow.”

With its compelling storyline, powerful performances, and action-packed sequences, The Martial Artist is poised to be a game-changer for Pakistani cinema. Fans can gear up for a thrilling Eid release, followed by its worldwide launch in April.
