Iran Supreme Leader Khamenei Flown Abroad for Medical Care

Questions are growing about the health and whereabouts of Mojtaba Ali Khamenei after reports claimed the newly appointed Iranian Supreme Leader was injured during recent joint military strikes on Iran. The 59-year-old leader has not appeared in public since the attacks, and his absence from a major national rally has fueled speculation about his condition.

The situation drew attention when Khamenei did not attend the annual Al-Quds Day rally, an important event in Iran where senior leaders usually address large crowds. Several high-ranking Iranian officials were present, but Khamenei’s absence quickly became a topic of discussion among analysts and international media.

According to reports from the Kuwaiti news outlet Al-Jarida, Khamenei was secretly transferred to Moscow after reportedly sustaining serious injuries during the strikes. The report claimed he was moved abroad for medical treatment due to both security concerns and the severity of his injuries.

The outlet cited a senior Iranian official who said Khamenei had undergone surgery and was recovering in a hospital located inside a presidential compound in Moscow. The report also stated that he traveled to Russia on March 12, 2026, aboard a Russian military aircraft.

According to sources mentioned in the report, the transfer reportedly took place after discussions between Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian. It was suggested that the idea of moving Khamenei to Russia was proposed during their phone conversation.

Security concerns were also reportedly a major factor behind the decision. Iranian officials were said to fear that hospitals inside Iran could become potential targets during ongoing regional tensions.

Earlier, the British newspaper The Guardian also reported claims suggesting that Khamenei might have fallen into a coma and was receiving treatment in a secret hospital.

However, despite the growing speculation, authorities in Iran and Russia have not officially confirmed any details about the reported injuries or Khamenei’s current location. As a result, uncertainty continues to surround the situation while observers wait for an official statement.
