Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Sheikha Asma Al Thani, a member of Qatar’s royal family and renowned mountaineer, as the brand ambassador for Pakistan’s mountains and tourism.
The announcement follows her successful summit of Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest peak, located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
Nanga Parbat, rising to 8,126 metres, is often referred to as the “Killer Mountain” due to its treacherous terrain and unpredictable weather. It is considered one of the most challenging climbs in the world.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated Sheikha Asma on her remarkable achievement, calling it an inspiration and a symbol of the strong ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
He said her courage and determination reflected the spirit of adventure that Pakistan seeks to promote through its mountain tourism.
