Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 ended in disappointment, as the team finished ninth and last on the points table despite a promising start.
The journey began with a clean sweep against Sri Lanka, giving fans hope of a strong run. However, their fortunes quickly declined. A 3-0 defeat in Australia, which also marked Shan Masood’s first series as Test captain, exposed the team’s weaknesses. The situation worsened with a shock 2-0 home loss to Bangladesh—a result that raised serious concerns within Pakistan’s cricket circles.

The side showed some resilience by clinching a 2-1 home series win over England, but their hopes of reaching the WTC Final were ultimately dashed after a 2-0 loss in South Africa. Pakistan ended their campaign with a 1-1 draw against West Indies, sealing their place at the bottom of the table.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently announced a record prize pool of USD 5.76 million for this WTC cycle—more than double the previous editions. While the champions of the WTC Final at Lord’s will receive USD 3.6 million, and runners-up USD 2.16 million, Pakistan will still take home USD 480,000 despite their last-place finish.
