The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the national squad for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand, which will run from March 16 to April 5.
The series includes five T20 Internationals (T20Is) followed by three One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Salman Ali Agha will lead Pakistan’s T20I squad, with Shadab Khan as vice-captain. This appointment is seen as part of a long-term strategy to build a strong team ahead of the 2025 ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Agha has previously captained Pakistan in the T20I series against Zimbabwe, where the team won 2-1.
Mohammad Rizwan will continue as the ODI captain, with Agha Salman as his deputy for the three-match ODI series scheduled from March 29 to April 5.
The series marks a key phase in Pakistan’s preparations for major upcoming tournaments, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Aqib Javed will continue as the interim head coach, with Mohammad Yousuf appointed as the batting coach.
