AC Milan came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Genoa on a wet Monday night in Serie A, keeping their slim hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
The match, played in difficult weather conditions, saw Genoa take the lead in the 61st minute through substitute Vitinha, who scored just a minute after coming on. The forward found space in the box and struck home a fine cross with his first touch.
Milan struggled for much of the game and lacked urgency until the final stages. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan was their standout player in the first half, pulling off several important saves to keep the score level. Just before the break, Christian Pulisic almost gave Milan the lead, but Genoa keeper Nicola Leali made a brilliant save from close range.

The second half saw little rhythm early on, as rain continued to disrupt play. But Milan turned the match around in quick fashion. Rafael Leao equalised in the 76th minute after a low cross from Santiago Gimenez confused the Genoa defence. Leao’s shot took a deflection off Brooke Norton-Cuffy before finding the net.
Just two minutes later, Milan were in front when Morten Frendrup accidentally sent the ball into his own goal while trying to clear a low cross. Genoa were unable to respond, and Milan held firm in the closing moments.
Leao nearly scored a third deep into stoppage time, but Leali reacted well to deny him. The result keeps Milan ninth in the table with 57 points, six behind fourth-placed Juventus with three games left.
With back-to-back games against Bologna in the league and Coppa Italia final coming up, Milan will hope this comeback gives them a much-needed boost.
