Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions

Liverpool secured the Premier League title for the 2024/25 season with a resounding 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds were given an early scare when former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke put Tottenham ahead in the 12th minute. However, the home side responded quickly, with Luis Diaz equalising just four minutes later. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo followed soon after, giving Liverpool a comfortable 3-1 lead by half-time.

Arne Slot’s team continued to control the match in the second half. Mohamed Salah, ending his six-game goal drought, added a fourth with a composed low shot midway through the half. Tottenham’s difficulties worsened when Destiny Udogie accidentally scored an own goal, sealing the convincing result for Liverpool.

Liverpool only needed a draw to guarantee the title but delivered a performance fitting for champions. With 82 points from 34 matches, they now hold an unassailable lead over second-placed Arsenal, who sit on 67 points.

This latest triumph is Liverpool’s first league title in five years and their 20th overall, bringing them level with rivals Manchester United in the all-time list of English top-flight championships.

The club’s domestic achievements now include 20 league titles, eight FA Cups, and 10 League Cups. Internationally, Liverpool have also won six European Cups, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

It has been a memorable season under the guidance of Arne Slot, with Liverpool showing resilience, flair, and consistency throughout the campaign. Supporters celebrated at Anfield, reflecting on a historic achievement and looking forward to more success in the future.
