New Zealand’s batting legend Kane Williamson, who remained unsold in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, will still feature in the tournament in a different role.

Reports suggest he has been invited to join the IPL commentary panel for a 10-day stint during the initial phase.

Indian media outlets indicate that Williamson’s deep cricketing knowledge and tactical awareness will bring valuable insights to IPL coverage.

His presence in the commentary box is expected to enhance the viewing experience by providing fans with expert analysis on match strategies and player performances.

Once his IPL commitments conclude, Williamson will turn his focus to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, where he has been signed by Karachi Kings.

He will join forces with former Australian cricketer David Warner as the team looks to make a strong impact in PSL 10.

This year’s PSL will be held from April 8 to May 18 across four cities—Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, and Lahore—marking the first time the event will run parallel to IPL.

The scheduling overlap offers cricket fans an exciting opportunity to follow two major T20 leagues simultaneously.

Although Williamson will not play in IPL 2025, his brief commentary role will keep him connected to the tournament before he returns to action in PSL.

The IPL season begins on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match at Eden Gardens.
