India secured their first ICC ODI title in 12 years with a dominant victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai.

The Men in Blue chased down the 252-run target comfortably, sealing their second Champions Trophy triumph in the 49 over.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand struggled to maintain momentum on a spin-friendly pitch. Despite a resilient 63-run knock off 101 balls by Daryl Mitchell, their total remained underwhelming.

Michael Bracewell contributed a quick-fire 53 off 40 balls, while Rachin Ravindra added 37 runs from 29 deliveries. Glenn Phillips also played a patient innings, scoring 34 off 52 balls.

India’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav taking two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket apiece.

In response, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with a commanding 76 off 83 balls.

Though Virat Kohli departed early, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel steadied the chase with a crucial 61-run partnership. Shubman Gill added 31 runs, further strengthening India’s position.

KL Rahul’s composed 34 off 33 balls guided India towards a comfortable finish. He struck the winning runs in the 49 over, securing India’s long-awaited ICC ODI title.
