Islamabad United secured a dominant victory over Karachi Kings on Monday to clinch second place in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 standings, setting up a high-stakes Qualifier against table-toppers Quetta Gladiators.
In the final league match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, United posted a mammoth 251/5, powered by a blazing 153-run opening stand between Alex Hales and Sahibzada Farhan. Hales smashed 88 off just 35 balls, hitting six fours and eight sixes, while Farhan contributed a stylish 73 from 41 deliveries. Captain Shadab Khan added the finishing touches with a rapid 42-run knock.

To edge past Karachi in the table, Islamabad had to limit them to 203 or fewer runs — a challenge they met comfortably. Karachi Kings were bowled out for 172 in 18.2 overs, allowing Islamabad to leapfrog them in Net Run Rate (NRR) and finish second.
The win now pits Islamabad United against Quetta Gladiators in the Qualifier at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 21. The victor will directly advance to the final, while the losing side gets another shot in Qualifier 2.

Karachi, meanwhile, drop to third and will face arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars in the Eliminator on May 22. The loser of that match will exit the tournament, while the winner moves on to face the loser of the Qualifier in the second playoff.
