Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam is widely regarded as one of most talented batters Pakistan has ever produced.

The former captain has made his mark in ODI cricket, often being compared to some of the great batters of modern day cricket.

His performances in the ODI have earned him a spot at the top of the ICC ODI rankings for years, until Shubman Gill overtook him recently.

However, a closer look at the performances of Babar Azam against spin bowling reveals a shift in his form.

Before December 2021, Babar maintained a stellar average of 51.72 and a strike rate of 88.49 of spinning in 50-over format.

His performance against spin was even more impressive, with an average of 143.33 and a strike rate of 91.00 in away spin.

Since January 2022, however, the performances of right-hander against spin have declined significantly.

His overall average dropped to 21.80, with a strike rate of 67.65. Against spin, his average fell drastically to 65.20, with a strike rate of 90.05.

Time Period Overall Average Overall Strike Rate Spin Average Spin Strike Rate
Before Dec 2021 51.72 88.49 143.33 91.00
Since Jan 2022 21.80 67.65 65.20 90.05
