The Sindh government has revised school hours for holy month of Ramadan across single and double-shift institutions.

Meanwhile, the provincial government of Punjab is weighing a similar reduction in school hours, though a final decision remains pending.

A notification from the Education Department set double-shift primary school hours from 7:30 am to 11:30 am and 11:45 am to 2:45 pm.

Single-shift primary schools will function from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm while on Fridays, the timings will be shorter.

Double-shift schools will run from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and 11:45 am to 1:15 pm, while single-shift schools will end at 11:30 am.

Secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools follow the same schedule to accommodate fasting students and staff.

In Punjab, the School Education Department has suggested reducing school hours by two hours during Ramadan.

Proposed timings suggest girls’ schools run from 7:30 am to 12:15 pm and boys’ from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, with a final announcement before Ramadan.
