The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has doubled its efforts to expand digital accessibility by significantly broadening its free public Wi-Fi initiative across the province.
The number of public Wi-Fi hotspots in Lahore has surged from 230 to 430, while the overall service coverage has grown from 11 to 22 districts. Newly added areas include Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Hasan Abdal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree, reflecting the government’s focus on digital inclusion.
According to PSCA officials, over 37.22 million users have already accessed the free Wi-Fi network, generating more than 905 terabytes of data usage. These numbers highlight the growing public reliance on high-speed internet in public spaces.

To support the expansion and improve performance, the PSCA has upgraded its infrastructure to the advanced Wi-Fi 6 standard. This enhancement promises faster internet speeds, reduced latency, and improved stability—particularly beneficial in high-density urban zones.
The initiative is part of the broader smart city vision championed by the Punjab government, aiming to bridge the digital divide and provide equitable access to technology. By facilitating internet access in both urban and semi-urban regions, the PSCA’s project continues to promote connectivity, convenience, and community development.
