Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru, inaugurated the Ramazan Dastarkhwan at the Panah Gah in the District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan, accompanied by Provincial Assembly members and local officials. The event saw the minister and MPA breaking fast with attendees, highlighting the regular provision of sehri and iftari to the public, including patients’ caregivers.
During the inauguration, Minister Toru emphasized the operation of 11 panahgahs across the province, ensuring the delivery of quality food during iftari and sehri. He also mentioned a province-wide campaign to curb price hikes during Ramazan, leading to the imprisonment of numerous profiteers. Additionally, he announced the initiation of a Ramazan package providing Rs10,000 to each poor family, benefiting over eight and a half lakh families.
Furthermore, a robust crackdown on artificial price inflation and illegal profiteering is underway to ensure fair prices for essential food items. Minister Toru urged the public to report any instances of profiteering or hoarding for swift action against such practices.
In a separate event, Advisor to Chief Minister Mashal Yousafzai shared iftar with travelers at a shelter in Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi. She highlighted the commitment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to serving the public and improving facilities in all shelters across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The advisor emphasized the continuation of iftari arrangements in all shelters throughout Ramazan, underscoring the government’s dedication to public welfare.
During her visit to the Drug Rehabilitation Center Swabi, Advisor Yousafzai reviewed the services provided to patients, commending the efforts of the Social Welfare Department. She reiterated the government’s focus on enhancing service delivery and ensuring the well-being of individuals in need.
