Internet users in Pakistan are expected to experience poor speeds and partial disruptions today as repair work on a key underwater cable begins. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the International Cable Consortium has begun repairing a repeater in the underwater cable, which may disrupt service between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., with potential delays lasting into the night.

According to a PTCL spokeswoman, the repair work includes a repeater, which enhances signals over underwater cables that connect Pakistan to the global internet network. During this period, users may have difficulty loading websites and utilizing social media, particularly on mobile connections.
PTCL apologized to customers for the brief inconvenience and informed them that the repair was required to keep the network stable. The business also stated that engineers are collaborating with foreign partners to minimize the damage and perform repairs as quickly as feasible.

Many users have already reported difficulties accessing sites such as Facebook and X (previously Twitter) owing to the interruption. PTCL anticipates the internet to be operational after the repairs are completed later tonight.
