Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Water levels in Nullah Lai and nearby low-lying areas have risen, putting residents at risk. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that Islamabad’s H-8 sector received about 95 millimeters of rain, while areas like G-11 also faced heavy showers.

Rescue teams are on high alert, and authorities are ready to evacuate people if needed. The National Disaster Management Authority has warned of more rain and possible landslides from September 1 to 3. Residents have been advised to stay away from water channels, remain alert, and follow safety instructions to protect themselves and their families.

Many streets in both cities have been submerged, causing traffic jams and difficulties for commuters. In some neighborhoods, rainwater entered houses and shops, damaging property and belongings. Residents have expressed concern over poor drainage systems that worsen the situation every year during heavy rainfall.

Hospitals and emergency centers have been asked to stay prepared for any urgent cases. Authorities are monitoring the Nullah Lai closely, as its rising water level is the main threat to nearby communities. People are urged to stay indoors as much as possible and cooperate with rescue officials during the ongoing rain emergency.
