The Sindh government has announced the closure of all public and private schools in Karachi on Wednesday, August 20, due to forecasts of further heavy rainfall. Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah confirmed that the decision was made to ensure the safety of students as the city braces for more downpours.

Senior provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also confirmed the closure, saying that the government’s emergency response teams were fully operational during the ongoing monsoon rains. “The entire government machinery is active, drainage work is underway, and people’s safety is the top priority. Citizens should avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily,” he said.
