The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced the postponement of examinations scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, following the Sindh government’s declaration of Youm-e-Takbeer as a public holiday.

According to BIEK Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho, the affected exams for the Science Pre-Medical and Science General groups will now take place on Thursday, May 30. The board stated that all previously assigned examination centres will remain unchanged.

As per the revised schedule, Botany Paper I (for both new and old courses, including repeat candidates), which was initially set for May 28 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, will now be conducted on May 30 during the same time slot.

Additionally, English (Normal) Paper I and English (Advanced) Paper I for failed candidates, previously scheduled from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on May 28, will now be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on May 30.

The postponement comes in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday commemorating Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, at Ras Koh hills in Chaghai, Balochistan. With these tests, Pakistan became the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first among Islamic nations.

The day marks a significant chapter in Pakistan’s history, reflecting its efforts to ensure national security and maintain strategic balance in South Asia. The Cabinet Division had officially designated May 28 as a gazetted holiday in its annual calendar issued last year.
