Giovanni Vigliotto, a man from the US, holds the Guinness World Record for having the most bigamous marriages in history. He married over 105 women between 1949 and 1981, without ever getting a divorce. His wives were unaware of each other’s existence, nor did they know about the man they had married.

Vigliotto used fake identities when he proposed to his wives and would decamp with their money and possessions soon after the wedding. He would then sell the items he stole at flea markets, where he would search for his next victim. He married women in 27 different US states and 14 other countries.

His last wife, Sharon Clark, decided to track Vigliotto down herself, which led to his arrest on December 28, 1981. He was charged with bigamy and fraud for marrying Clark while still being married to Patrician Ann Gardiner.

During his trial in 1983, Vigliotto claimed that his real name was Nikolai Peruskov and listed 50 aliases he used while committing fraud. He also gave the names and addresses of his 105 wives. Vigliotto argued that he treated his wives well and that other men in the US should follow his example.

However, he was sentenced to 34 years in prison and fined $336,000. Vigliotto spent the last eight years of his life in Arizona State Prison before passing away in 1991 at the age of 61 due to a brain hemorrhage.

Vigliotto’s story is a shocking reminder of the extent to which some people can go to deceive and exploit others. His actions also highlight the importance of being vigilant and cautious in relationships, especially when it comes to marriage.

While it is true that most people enter into marriage with good intentions, it is essential to take the time to get to know one’s partner and to make sure that they are who they claim to be. Marriage is a significant commitment that should not be taken lightly, and it is crucial to take steps to protect oneself against potential fraud or deception.
