To commemorate International Labour Day, foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading delivery platform, has rolled out a series of impactful initiatives designed to honor and support its delivery partners. These efforts focus on strengthening community bonds, and providing financial support to the riders who serve as the heartbeat of the digital economy.

Bridging the gap between corporate operations and the reality of the field, foodpanda launched its “Rider for a Day” initiative. Members of the corporate staff, including senior leadership and department leads, stepped away from their desks to join the delivery fleet on the front lines. Wearing the signature pink gear and navigating the city streets to complete deliveries, employees gained firsthand insight into the daily experiences of the rider community. This initiative aims to ensure that future platform policies and technological innovations are deeply rooted in the lived experience of delivery partners.

Recognising the physical demands of the job, foodpanda collaborated with several key restaurant partners across the country to provide free, high quality meals to delivery riders throughout the day. Participating outlets across major cities served as hospitality hubs, offering riders a space to rest and refuel. This effort highlights the collective gratitude of the food and beverage industry for the essential role riders play in connecting kitchens to customers.

To specifically recognise the tireless efforts of the fleet, foodpanda provided an additional financial incentive on top of the existing payout structure for all riders operating nationwide on Labour Day. In addition, to facilitate easier access to meals during their shifts, working riders were provided with a special PKR 250 discount voucher for pickup orders. This initiative saw immediate success, with a significant number of delivery partners using the vouchers over the Labour Day weekend to enjoy discounted meals on the go.

In addition to that, foodpanda deepened its community impact by partnering with Sahulat Foundation to host a special appreciation event for delivery partners in Lahore. The gathering provided a platform for 100 riders to connect and celebrate their contributions to the city’s resilience. As a token of appreciation and to provide relief amidst current economic pressures and rising fuel costs, the event included a formal meal and the distribution of PKR 2,000 cash grants to participating riders. This localised effort highlights foodpanda’s commitment to providing both social and financial cushions for its fleet.

“Our delivery partners are at the heart of everything we do, and Labour Day is a moment to pause and reflect on the immense value they bring to the national economy,” said Muntaqa Peracha, CEO, foodpanda Pakistan. “Whether it’s our corporate teams experiencing the journey firsthand or our partners coming together to provide meals and financial support, our goal is to ensure our riders feel seen, respected, and supported in every delivery they make.”

These Labour Day initiatives are part of foodpanda’s commitment to its riders, which includes ongoing efforts in financial inclusion, insurance coverage, and the transition towards a more sustainable future for the delivery workforce.
