Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao, is also known as CZ, has been appointed as a strategic adviser to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and brought together stakeholders, including the Securities and SECP chairman, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor and the federal secretaries for Law and IT.

Pakistan Crypto Council was established to “regulate and integrate blockchain technology and digital assets into the country’s financial landscape.” The appointment of CZ is being hailed as a strategic move to align Pakistan’s crypto aspirations with international best practices.

Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the PCC and recently appointed Chief Adviser to the Finance Minister on the council, also expressed his enthusiasm:

Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance. And who better to guide us than Zhao a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the way billions think about financial freedom.

According to the statement, Zhao’s role as strategic adviser will include guidance on crypto regulation, infrastructure development, financial education, and driving adoption of blockchain technologies across sectors. He will work closely with both the public and private sectors to craft a compliant, inclusive, and globally competitive crypto ecosystem in Pakistan.

“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60% of whom are under 30. The potential here is limitless,” Zhao said in the release.
