PM Thanks Overseas Pakistanis for Record Remittances in December

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to overseas Pakistanis for sending record remittances in December 2025, calling their contribution a strong support for the country’s economy.

In a statement from Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistanis living abroad sent $3.6 billion in remittances during December. This amount is higher than the figures recorded in the same month last year and shows growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic future.

Remittances increased by 16.5 per cent compared to December of the previous year. The prime minister said this rise reflects the strong bond overseas Pakistanis have with their homeland and their continued trust in the country’s progress.

Shehbaz Sharif praised overseas citizens for standing by Pakistan during challenging times. He said their financial support plays a key role in strengthening foreign exchange reserves and helping stabilize the national economy.

The prime minister also appreciated the way overseas Pakistanis rejected negative propaganda about the country. He said their actions show patriotism and a deep sense of responsibility toward Pakistan’s development.

“Overseas Pakistanis are our valuable asset,” the prime minister said. “The entire nation, including myself, takes pride in them and their efforts for the country.”

He added that the government is committed to providing better facilities and support for Pakistanis living abroad. Steps are being taken to resolve their issues quickly and to make investment and remittance processes easier.

Economic experts say rising remittances are a positive sign for Pakistan. They help reduce pressure on the currency, support families back home, and boost overall economic activity.

The government hopes this upward trend will continue in the coming months, further strengthening Pakistan’s economy with the continued support of its citizens living overseas.
