What started as a playful interaction between a pet parrot and his owner has now made international headlines. Xiaogui, a parrot in China, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for the fastest color recognition by a bird.
Xiaogui completed the challenge of identifying and sorting 10 colors in 33.5 seconds, demonstrating both precision and intelligence. The record attempt required him to pick up colored balls and place them into their respective boxes. Despite a brief error with a pink shade, Xiaogui corrected himself instantly, drawing applause from judges.
Owner Chen Feng shared that the parrot’s training grew naturally out of his love for colorful toys. Feng encouraged Xiaogui to sort objects, rewarding him for accuracy. Over time, this playful habit developed into a rare skill that set him apart from other parrots.
Guinness World Records confirmed Xiaogui’s achievement, praising the bird’s unusual learning ability. Experts believe the accomplishment underscores how animals can develop advanced skills when their instincts are guided through patience and positive reinforcement.
For Feng, the record is not only about global recognition but also about celebrating the bond between pet and owner. “He was simply enjoying playtime, and now he has made history,” Feng said.
