The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast, warning of rain and snowfall in many parts of the country from today until February 3. The department has also cautioned that this weather system could increase the risk of landslides in mountainous areas.
Several northern regions are expected to receive rain and snow over the coming days. These areas include northern Balochistan and the country’s northern belt. Parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to see snowfall and rainfall during this period.
The forecast says that Islamabad and the Potohar region may experience rain as well. Rain is also expected in different parts of Punjab. Popular hill stations such as Murree and the Galiyat areas are likely to receive rain and snowfall, which may affect road conditions and daily travel.
Upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir are more vulnerable to landslides due to continuous rain and snow. Landslides can block roads and create difficulties for local residents and tourists.
The PMD has advised citizens, travelers, and tourists to take extra care while traveling to hilly regions. People living in vulnerable areas are urged to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
Authorities have also recommended avoiding unnecessary travel in mountainous areas during heavy rain or snowfall. Motorists are advised to check road conditions before starting their journey.
The Met Office said it will continue to monitor the weather situation closely and share updates if needed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official weather reports and take precautionary measures to stay safe during the changing weather conditions.
