While many of Pakistan’s centrally contracted players remain absent from major franchise tournaments, left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar has quietly made his mark. He has been signed by Oval Invincibles as a wildcard pick for the 2025 edition of The Hundred, making him the only Pakistani cricketer in this year’s tournament.
Gohar, who last played for Pakistan in 2021, has impressed in England’s domestic circuit. His recent performances in the Vitality Blast for Middlesex—taking 11 wickets in 12 matches with an economy rate of 9.00—earned him a spot in the high-profile 100-ball competition. Overall, he has 85 wickets in 82 T20s at an economy of 7.88.

Known more for consistency than flair, the 30-year-old has built a strong reputation in first-class cricket, securing 327 wickets in 93 matches, including 21 five-wicket hauls. Yet despite these numbers, his international career with Pakistan has been limited to just one Test and one ODI.
He joins the Oval Invincibles on a £31,000 contract, alongside fellow wildcard George Scrimshaw. For now, Gohar remains Pakistan’s lone representative in The Hundred—a reminder of both his perseverance and the changing global cricket dynamics.
